School Olympiads vs. National Olympiad Pathways
These are two separate, unrelated systems. SOF's school Olympiads (above) are open exams taken through participating schools. India's national Olympiad pathways are run by HBCSE (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy) and IAPT (Junior Science), and lead toward international Olympiad teams — they are a different, more selective route, not a "next level" of SOF exams.

| SOF ISO | Physics | NSEP → INPhO |
| SOF ISO | Chemistry | NSEC → INChO |
| SOF ISO | Biology | NSEB → INBO |

How Olympiad Preparation Works
1. Understand the Syllabus
Know exactly what's tested before revising anything.
2. Diagnose Strengths
Identify which sections and topics need the most attention.
3. Chapter-wise Practice
Build accuracy topic by topic, not through random papers.
4. Timed Mocks & Review
Practice under time pressure, then review every mistake.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are SOF Olympiads?
The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) conducts eight school-level Olympiads for the 2026–27 session — IMO, ISO, IEO, IGKO, ICSO, ISSO, IHO and ICO — covering Mathematics, Science, English, General Knowledge, Computer Science, Social Studies, Hindi and Commerce across Classes 1 to 12.
Which Olympiad should my child start with?
There's no single right answer — IMO, ISO and IEO are open across Classes 1–12 and are the most widely taken, so they're a common starting point. A subject your child already enjoys usually makes for a more motivating first attempt than the 'most popular' choice.
Is the National Olympiad pathway (IOQM, NSEP, etc.) the same as SOF Olympiads?
No. SOF's school Olympiads and India's national Olympiad pathways (IOQM/RMO/INMO for Mathematics, NSEP/NSEC/NSEB/NSEA leading to INPhO/INChO/INBO/INAO for Science, run by HBCSE) are separate, unrelated programmes with different organisers, formats and purposes. See the comparison below.
Is Tutors Parliament affiliated with SOF, HBCSE, MTA(I) or IAPT?
No. Tutors Parliament is an independent educational platform providing preparation resources and tutor matching. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by these examination organizations.
