What Is Australian Curriculum?

The Australian Curriculum, developed by ACARA, sets nationally consistent content and achievement standards for Foundation through Year 10 across eight learning areas — English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Arts, Technologies, Health and Physical Education, and Languages. Version 9.0 was approved by education ministers in April 2022, and states and territories are implementing it on their own timelines, with full implementation still completing in some jurisdictions and expected by 2027.

The Australian Curriculum governs Foundation–Year 10 only. From Year 11, senior-secondary structure, assessment and certification are set independently by each state and territory's own authority — NSW's HSC, Victoria's VCE, Queensland's QCE, Western Australia's WACE, South Australia's SACE, and the ACT's Senior Secondary Certificate. It is not one certificate covering Foundation through Year 12.

Why Families Choose Tutors Parliament for Australian Curriculum

  • Tutors matched to your child's actual year level and state implementation timeline, not a single assumed national pace.
  • Honest about the F–10/senior-secondary split — support continues seamlessly into HSC, VCE or QCE tutoring (where a dedicated page exists) once a student reaches Year 11.
  • Support across the core learning areas most families seek tutoring for — Mathematics, English and science topics — rather than every one of the eight learning areas equally.
  • A free diagnostic assessment before matching, so sessions start from your child's actual gaps, not a generic year-level recap.

Frequently Asked Questions

What years does the Australian Curriculum cover?+
Foundation through Year 10 (F–10). From Year 11, students move into their own state or territory's senior-secondary certificate (HSC, VCE, QCE, WACE, SACE, or the ACT's Senior Secondary Certificate) instead.
Is it the same across every state?+
The content and achievement standards are set nationally by ACARA, but each state and territory implements it on its own timeline — as of this year, full implementation is still completing in some jurisdictions, expected by 2027.
What happens in Years 11–12?+
The Australian Curriculum does not extend to Years 11–12. Senior-secondary structure, subjects, and assessment are set independently by each state's own authority — see our dedicated HSC, VCE, and QCE pages for New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland.
Is tutoring online?+
Yes — tutoring for Australian Curriculum students is currently offered online only, with sessions scheduled around the student's local time.
Does Tutors Parliament provide Australian Curriculum-specific tests?+
Not yet at the learning-area level. Tutors Parliament's current online assessment library is organised mainly by Classes 6–12, reflecting Indian boards — ask your matched tutor for year-level-specific practice guidance.
Is Tutors Parliament affiliated with ACARA?+
No. Tutors Parliament is an independent online tutoring provider and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to ACARA, or any school in Australia.
